Milk from Family Dairies Act Explained

NFFCfactsheets

US dairy farmers are in crisis due to a vicious cycle of “boom and bust” prices coupled with milk oversupply, leading to increasing consolidation within the industry. Since 1997, the US has lost more than 70% of its dairy farms.

Supply management and price floors are the key to addressing this crisis. Dairy farmers need policies that include measures to balance milk supply and demand, curbing overproduction while ensuring that farmers are paid a fair, living wage for their product. NFFC’s Milk from Family Dairies Act can achieve these goals! The Milk from Family Dairies Act would ensure dairy farmers a fair price for their product while protecting costs for consumers and revitalizing rural areas – all while saving taxpayers money.
