The New Producer Economic Security Act (S.1237 / H.R. 2536) was introduced in both chambers on April 1, 2025, and is endorsed by NFFC and the National Young Farmers Coalition. It directs the Farm Service Agency to establish a pilot program to resource locally-led, community-based projects that address the interrelated challenges of land, capital, and market access for the next generation of farmers and ranchers, building on the promise of the Increasing Land, Capital, and Market Access Program.
This bill offers an important tool for keeping farmland in the hands of those who feed our communities. It supports new and beginning family farmers whose access to farmland is challenged by increasing land consolidation. Farmland access is integral to building and strengthening resilient food systems, and the New Producer Economic Security Act is a key step towards that goal.
