NFFC Statement on House Passage of Regressive Tax Reform

NFFCPress Room

We are very disappointed in the House vote yesterday moving forward with its regressive tax reform. This bill would take hard-earned income from struggling rural communities and put it into corporate coffers and the pockets of millionaires.

Our member organizations represent family farmers and ranchers, community-based fishermen, small business owners, rural advocates and other Americans who will be harmed by the changes to health care, education and state and local tax deductions in this bill. Although touted as a job-creator, economists state that the tax cuts provided to businesses will not generate enough growth to offset the additional debt or to help most lower- and middle-income taxpayers.
