Last week, NFFC joined over 110 organizations in a letter to President Obama to restore funding for socially disadvantaged and veteran farmers and ranchers in FY 2017. The Outreach and Assistance for Socially Disadvantaged and Veteran Farmers and Ranchers Program (OASDVR) has helped farm families and communities reengage in agriculture in areas where poverty is high and the need for jobs and affordable and nutritious food is great. NFFC and our affiliate organizations are requesting that the President allocates $10 million in additional discretionary funding for OASDVR in the FY 2017 budget so that this program can reach historic levels of funding.
