Mini America-the-Bountiful Tour Along the Gulf of Mexico


In August, several National Family Farm Coalition and Northwest Atlantic Marine Alliance staff members attended the annual meeting of one of NFFC’s founding members, the Federation of Southern Cooperatives, in Alabama. Afterward they followed Ben Burkett, State Coordinator of the Mississippi Association of Cooperatives and former NFFC board president, to Mississippi and Louisiana to tour his and other MAC farms and fisheries. From there they drove inland to New Iberia to visit Angela and June Provost who are fighting to keep their sugar cane farm, one of the few such farms now owned by a Black family in Louisiana.
