Lawmakers Consider Bill Restricting US Corporate Ownership of America’s Farmland

Hoosier Ag Today cited our coalition in a new article about corporate farmland grabs. Fran Miller from our partner, the Vermont Law School’s Center for Agriculture and Food Systems, was interviewed about our policy proposal, the Farmland for Farmers Act.

The article reports that the bill would “restrict corporations and multi-layered subsidiaries, pension funds, and investment funds from purchasing and leasing land and then getting USDA subsidies,” and that it would allow exceptions for people who are farming the land themselves.
