Corporate land grabs are “decimating rural communities”

AgNet West recently spoke to Fran Miller, one of policy our partners at the Vermont Law & Graduate School’s Center for Agriculture and Food Systems. She spoke about the negative impacts of corporate investment in farmland, as well as our proposed solution, the Farmland for Farmers Act.

Fran says about corporate land grabbing, “It’s decimating rural communities. It’s not a good thing. It prevents younger farmers and farmers with less capital from purchasing land,” she said. “It takes people out of rural communities and sends them off in other places.”
