As part of our advocacy for an equitable, just, and climate-friendly food system the National Family Farm Coalition was among the original drafters of this letter to Congress. As the letter states, signatories urge a a reconciliation package that ensures a Build Back Better agenda that supports truly diversified and climate-friendly farming, in part through the passage of the Relief for America’s Small Farmers Act. This bill, introduced in 2021 as S.2023 by Senator Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY) is part of the reconciliation package. Although it does not reach the funding levels we proposed, it will provide urgent funds from farmers excluded from previous COVID-19-related support.
