Lindsay Gonzales
Development Director
A lifelong local food advocate, Lindsay learned about the systemic barriers that small-scale farmers and ranchers face when she co-founded a community farmers market. Her team discovered that there simply weren't enough area farmers to meet the demand for local food, and she started to ask why. The answers shaped her remaining life’s work - to help develop globally just, economically viable and environmentally sustainable food systems.
Building on specialized academic programs in ethics and public policy at Hampshire College (BA) and Vanderbilt Divinity School (MTS), Lindsay has 20 years experience carving new paths in nonprofit fundraising, organizing and policy work; including work for Legal Aid Society, the Democratic National Committee, and NETWORK, a social justice lobby. From there she entered agricultural advocacy as the Deputy Director for Farm and Ranch Freedom Alliance (FARFA) and for the Council for Healthy Foods Systems (CHFS.) She then transitioned into independent movement building as a consultant before joining National Family Farm Coalition (NFFC) as the Development Director.
Lindsay brings wide-ranging experience in institutional and individual giving and is passionate about facilitating deep funding partnerships for transformational change. She also serves on the Board of Directors for Texas Organic Farmers and Gardeners Association (TOFGA.) Lindsay lives with her husband, two sons, three dogs, axolotl and just enough chickens, in a tiny town south of Houston, where she is also working to fit as many native pollinators on her land as she can!
